TOP 5 NEW TV Shows of 2016


As 2016 comes to an end, I went back to all of the new show of this year and I must say that this is yet again a great year for television. 2016 revealed plenty of new TV shows that are making a big entrance and are expected to succeed in further seasons.  The 2010s is to the golden age of television and 2016 is no exception. So here s a look at the best new TV shows of 2016.

5- Luke Cage

Following the steps of the Netflix shows Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Luke Cage is another successful adaptation of a Marvel comic. The show is a great stand alone series as well as an addicting continuation of the Marvel Universe shows. With impressive acting and interesting characters, Luke Cage is a must watch for any MCU fan.

4- The Night Of

This short Netflix original show of eight episodes was a breath of fresh air in the crime genre. Staring Riz Ahmed as Nasir Khan  , a Pakistani-American college student that was accused of murdering a girl in the upper west side of New York City, the choice of making the main lead a minority  added depth to the show . With a complicated and mysterious plot, this show keeps the viewers engaged from start to finish.

3- The Crown

Following the life of Queen Elizabeth II, this TV show is the most expensive ever in the history of television (over £100m  ). With beautiful aesthetics and remarkable acting, this 10-part series have been critically acclaimed receiving several nominations like Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Drama Series and the Satellite Award for Best Television Series in drama. Netflix have already secured at least six seasons for this show each following a decade in the life of the queen.

2- Stranger Things

This TV show took the binge watching world by storm when it was released on Netflix on July 15th. Fans have been working ever since on theories and analysis of this science fiction/horror show. This Netflix original became one of the most watched show on the network thanks to its embrace of 80s pop culture nostalgia — films like ET, Poltergeist, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws, Nightmare on Elm Street, Stand by Me, The Goonies, Star Wars, Aliens, The Evil Dead, and more.


1- Westworld

HBO’s new series sci-fi/western serie is easily one of the most talked about shows of 2016. On average, Westworld managed to attract 12 million weekly viewers, making it the most-watched first season of any original HBO series. Fans are already considering Westworld the new replacement of Game of Thrones after we learned that this latest have 13 episodes left. With fascinating mystery and psychology, it is no doubt that Westworld is making the head of this list. The first season was near perfect with an intense 90 min finale, and the creators of the show have already mapped out the next five season. The second season is expected to air in late 2018. Many are surprised of this date. Do you think that the production is really going to take that long or is this strategy to keep HBO’s viewer focused on Game of Thrones.
